Scott Birkeland, Ph.D.
As an Associate of Wexley Consulting • HRD, Dr. Birkeland specializes in employee selection projects where he works with clients to help them design and implement custom hiring systems. Throughout his 15-year career he has teamed with hundreds of organizations to help them identify, develop, and deploy the talent that they need to gain a competitive advantage. His approach focuses on helping organizations use advanced decision-making tools so that they can optimize their human resource capabilities. Prior to being an Associate of Wexley Consulting, Scott worked as a consultant at Personnel Decisions International (PDI) in Minneapolis, MN and at Personnel Decisions Research International in Tampa, FL.
Scott received his Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of South Florida. In addition to his broad consulting experience, his research in the areas of employee selection, performance management, and talent development has been presented at many conferences and published in books and journals.
Steven Rolla
Mr. Rolla, an Associate of the Wexley Consulting • HRD, has been the President and CEO of three organizations located throughout the Northeast and Mid Atlantic over the past 15 years. In those roles, he has accomplished the acquisition and merger of three companies in upstate New York, the turnaround from a loss of $25 million to $3 million in profit in New York City, and operated the most profitable dealership in the Mid Atlantic with ebit in excess of 20%. Prior to his CEO assignments, Steve was the Vice President of Operations for a $200 million dealership in the Northeast where his service organization of 250 technicians consistently achieved 45% gross profit margins and his 150 Rep sales organization consistently achieved double digit growth. Steve began his career as a Technician with Xerox in the 1970s. He became a part of the Xerox sales organization in 1975 and then took on various management roles with them. Steve credits his first line service and sales experiences in his early career for the successes he has achieved. Steve's sales and service expertise allows Wexley Consulting • HRD to add to its highly successful service offering and, in addition, provide its clients a sales and operational expert to fully support its clients needs. Steve has degrees from the State University of New York College of Aeronautics and from Central Connecticut State University.
Spencer J. Stang, Ph.D.
As an Associate of Wexley Consulting • HRD, Dr. Stang specializes in employee selection projects where he works with clients to help them design and implement customized hiring and employee development/training systems. Throughout his 14-year career he has worked closely with many of the world's largest and most successful business and sports organizations, as well as neighborhood cafe's and accounting firms, to help them identify, develop and deploy the talent that they need to gain a competitive advantage. His approach focuses on helping organizations use advanced decision-making tools so that they can optimize their human resource capabilities.
Spencer received his Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. In addition to his broad consulting experience, his research in the areas of decision making, employee selection systems, and cognitive biases has been presented at many conferences and published in scientific journals and popular HR Magazines.
Stanley B. Silverman, M.A.
Dean Silverman has been an Associate of Wexley Consulting • HRD since 1975. He has advised organizations all types and sizes, including some of the largest organizations in the world, in the areas of organizational change and development, performance management and appraisal, leadership and management development, employee training and development, and human resource staffing. Stan received his M.A. in Industrial & Organizational Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University.
He has published numerous articles on performance appraisal, personnel selection, individual employee change, and job analysis. He has written a book chapter on individual development and performance management/appraisal for a handbook series published by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and BNA books.
Stan has been very active nationally in the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology of the American Psychological Association where he has chaired national conventions and various committees. He is a Charter Member of the American Psychological Society. He has worked in Kyoto, Japan where he presented his work on performance management/performance appraisal at the 22nd International Congress of Applied Psychology.
Stan is the co-author with Ken Wexley of the best-selling book, Working Scared: Achieving Success In Trying Times. He speaks throughout the United States, has appeared on radio stations all across the country discussing the book, and has been a guest on the NBC Today Show discussing workplace issues. Stan has also served as Dean of Summit College and Professor of Social Science at The University of Akron.
